Jay Jones’ Statement on Jason Miyares’ Efforts to Block Redistricting

Norfolk, VA – Today, Jay Jones released the following statement in response to Jason Miyares issuing a legal opinion to attempt to block Congressional redistricting for 2026. 

“When Donald Trump said he could always count on Jason Miyares, this is what he meant. 

“Trump has been pressuring Republicans nationwide to rig redistricting in his favor. Now, Jason Miyares is attempting to block a fair, legal process that would return power to Virginians, doubling down on his fealty to Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda. 

“As Attorney General, I’ll immediately reverse this partisan opinion and fight to protect our democracy – not Donald Trump.”
