Norfolk, VA – New reporting shows Virginia “ranks sixth among the states most affected” by Donald Trump’s federal government shutdown “due to federal jobs, contract dollars and access to national parks.” While other elected officials have spoken out about the damage the administration is doing, Virginia AG Jason Miyares hasn’t said a word or taken action to protect Virginia’s workforce and economy.
Miyares’ failure to act on behalf of Virginians is even more evident as unions are already successfully blocking Trump from firing workers during the shutdown, which a U.S. district judge considered “illegal and in excess of authority.”
As Attorney General, Miyares has never pushed back against the Trump administration – choosing to serve as the president’s pro bono attorney over joining other attorneys general in suing Trump for illegal tariffs and firings. And now, as “hundreds of thousands of federal employees… face mounting financial strain,” Miyares continues to make it clear: he will always put Donald Trump ahead of Virginians.
