New Report Reveals Miyares Received $250,000 from MAGA Billionaire on the Same Day He Issued Legal Opinion to Block Virginia’s Redistricting Process

Norfolk, VA – A new midnight campaign filing by Jason Miyares reveals that Miyares was funneled a $250,000 contribution from Ken Griffin, a billionaire Trump supporter who gave $1 million to Trump’s inaugural, on the same day Miyares issued an extreme, partisan opinion against Virginia Democrats’ fair and legal redistricting efforts. 

Griffin is one of the top billionaire backers of MAGA efforts to maintain control of the House of Representatives, and has donated at least $62 million to GOP Super PACs dedicated to that purpose – the very outcome Miyares’ legal maneuver is intended to help ensure. 

Before Miyares entered the fight to ensure Trump retains the House, Griffin had never before donated to him.

The timing of the contribution raises serious questions for Miyares, including:

1. Was Ken Griffin’s donation compensation for Miyares issuing a partisan redistricting opinion?
2. Has the Attorney General coordinated with national GOP donors or Super PACs seeking to protect the Republican congressional majority?
3. What conversations has the Attorney General had with the Trump administration regarding his decision to attempt to stop Virginia voters’ ability to weigh in on the redistricting process?
4. Is Miyares using his office to advance the political goals of Donald Trump, instead of the interests of Virginians?

Virginians deserve transparency and accountability from their chief legal officer, not backroom deals and shady political favors.
