Miyares Silent as Inflation Continues to Rise and Virginians Pay the Price

Norfolk, VA – As inflation climbs to 3% as a result of Trump’s failing economic policies, the “fastest annual pace since the start of the year,” Virginians are feeling the squeeze of rising food, housing, and energy costs. The ongoing Trump shutdown is only making things worse – cutting off critical SNAP benefits and threatening healthcare for thousands of families – but Attorney General Jason Miyares has done nothing to defend Virginia families suffering the consequences.

Miyares refused to challenge Trump’s illegal tariffs, which are driving up prices, or call on Washington Republicans to end the harmful shutdown and protect SNAP and Medicaid. This is no surprise, given Miyares has had nearly 50 opportunities to sue the Trump administration on behalf of Virginians, and he’s refused every single time – instead, happily accepting the president’s “Complete and Total Endorsement” and taking MAGA billionaires’ campaign donations. 

In sharp contrast, Jay Jones is ready to lower costs and protect consumers by cracking down on price-gouging, deceptive business practices, and corporate abuse – and by standing up to Trump’s harmful economic policies that are driving costs up.
