Norfolk, VA – As Donald Trump continues his “ongoing push to militarize cities,” attorneys general across the country are stepping up to defend the Constitution and protect their residents from federal overreach. But in Virginia, Attorney General Jason Miyares remains silent – and his record failing to stand up to Trump shows he’ll do nothing to protect Virginians if the president unconstitutionally deploys the National Guard in the Commonwealth.
Miyares has even defended Trump’s “use of force,” calling it “not unprecedented” that the president is illegally sending the Marines and National Guard to cities across the country – proving that he won’t protect Virginians if Trump were to abuse his power against them. Miyares has already failed to stand up to the president, refusing to join 50 lawsuits with other attorneys general against Trump’s extreme policies.
