Jones: Veterans “deserve someone who’s going to stand up for you 100% of the time, and that’s what I’m going to do.”
Congressman Vindman: “Jay is the right man to be Attorney General. He will fight on behalf of Virginians.”
Norfolk, VA – Yesterday, Jay Jones, Democratic nominee for Virginia Attorney General, and Congressman Eugene Vindman (VA-07) hosted a roundtable discussion with veterans focused on the impacts of President Trump’s harmful cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs and how leaders can better support Virginia’s veterans.
During the event, Jones listened to veterans across the Fredericksburg area discuss their experiences and difficulties getting the healthcare they have earned. Jones emphasized how he will strengthen and defend veterans’ access to affordable, quality healthcare in the VA system and across the Commonwealth.
On the everyday effects of Trump’s reckless policies: “You’re seeing the impact of the chaos and craziness that these policies have on regular people. We’re talking about people’s livelihoods, and to have Attorney General Jason Miyares not step up and fight back to protect the resources, values, and ideals we live up to is deeply disappointing.”
On MAGA Miyares not standing up to Trump: “We don’t have an AG who will fight for us, put Virginia first, and sue to get those funds. Other Democratic attorneys general across the country are doing that, and those states get those resources, but we have been left behind.”
On how he will support Virginia’s veterans: “The role [of the Attorney General] is to protect our values, ideals, resources, and institutions. To see leaders pick and choose when they want to step up is not acceptable in these challenging times, especially when we have people who desperately need health care and support services. My job will be to get those services for you. You have my word, as your Attorney General, I’ll fight every day to make sure that gets done.”
On his ties to Virginia’s veterans: “Coming from Hampton Roads, where we have such a strong military presence, I know how critical a role you all play in our day-to-day lives, so working on your behalf will always motivate me.”
