NORFOLK, VA – Today, Democratic nominee for Attorney General Jay Jones released the following statement in response to Virginia’s unemployment rate increasing for the seventh straight month. Under Jason Miyares’ watch, unemployment in Virginia is rising as mass federal firings have significantly harmed the state’s economy and dropped Virginia from #1 to #4 in CNBC’s “America’s Top States for Business.”
At every turn, MAGA Jason Miyares sides with Donald Trump over Virginians who want lower costs. Last week, an inflation report showed more evidence that President Donald Trump’s tariffs are starting to push up prices on everyday goods, and in May, Miyares refused to join other attorneys general in challenging Trump’s reckless tariffs.

“Virginians are having their livelihoods threatened and taken from them at random, and instead of fighting for them, MAGA Miyares has sided with Donald Trump and his extreme policies at every turn.
“Time and again, Miyares has chosen special interests above Virginia families, whether it’s letting utility companies hike up electricity bills, letting corporate landlords off the hook, or failing to protect people from predatory lenders.
