Norfolk, VA – Today, Jay Jones, Democratic candidate for Attorney General, released the following statement in response to the Virginia Court of Appeals ruling in favor of the Virginia NAACP in Virginia State Conference NAACP v. Youngkin:
“This is an incredible victory for all Virginians, who are one step closer to gaining the transparency they deserve in our government’s critical decision-making processes that determine our fundamental civil rights.
“I’m proud to have fought on behalf of the NAACP in this case, because as the son of two judges and grandson of a civil rights leader, I have always believed in transparency, accountability, and justice for all. As Attorney General, I will always advocate for Virginians when their rights and freedoms are on the line.
“I appreciate the NAACP’s efforts to shed light on what our government is doing behind closed doors and to ensure that all Virginians have access to the rights they are entitled to under our constitution – and I look forward to their next victory.”
