The Ashanti Bill
This legislation enables law enforcement to issue a missing person alert (Ashanti Alert) for citizens between the ages of 18-60 who are deemed to be critically missing.
Extending Childcare Assistance
In 2019, Delegate Jones sponsored legislation that allows VIEW participants whose Temporary Assistance for Needy Families financial assistance is terminated to receive child care assistance for an additional 12 months provided that the person is enrolled in a credible institution of higher education or post-secondary school.
Training School Resource Officers
HB2609, passed in 2019, requires law enforcement officers serving as school resource officers in our schools to receive and comply with compulsory minimum training standards as promulgated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Suspending Tolls During Emergency
The toll burden on citizens in Virginia is crushing. Delegate Jones introduced legislation that alleviates the burden in times of crisis by requiring the Commissioner of Highways to temporary suspend toll collection operations on affected mass evacuation routes during any mandatory evacuation as part of a declared state of emergency.
